Removable Industrial Insulation Jacket | Material for Valve & Pipe Covers

Removable Industrial Insulation Jacket | Material for Valve & Pipe Covers

It looks simple. But there’s a lot behind it.

These photos were recently shared by our customer from an industrial insulation jacket installation. At first glance, it is simply a jacket covering a valve, pipe, or piece of equipment. But anyone working in industrial insulation knows that getting this right is not that simple.

The jacket needs to fit around different shapes and connections, stay securely in place, protect the insulation underneath, and still allow access when maintenance is required. And then there is the material itself.

The outer fabric needs to handle the working environment while remaining flexible enough for fabrication, installation, removal, and repeated handling.

This is where material selection becomes part of the engineering process — not just a purchasing decision. We are always glad to see Suntex materials become part of real projects and, even more importantly, to see customers sharing the finished installation with us.For insulation jacket manufacturers: what is usually the most challenging part of a project — material, fabrication, or installation?

The Real Challenge of Removable Insulation Jackets: Repeated Use

The Real Challenge of Removable Insulation Jackets: Repeated Use

Designed for Repeated Service: The Role of Silicone Coated Fiberglass Fabric in Insulation Jackets

A removable insulation jacket is designed to be opened, removed, and installed again.
But every maintenance cycle creates stress on the outer fabric:
→ Folding
→ Bending
→ Pulling
→ Handling
Over time, weak outer materials may lose flexibility and affect the jacket’s service life.
Silicone coated fiberglass fabric is designed for repeated movement.
Its rubber-like silicone layer provides excellent flexibility and folding resistance, making it ideal for valve covers, pump covers, flange covers, and other frequently serviced equipment.
For insulation jackets, durability is not only measured by temperature resistance.
It is measured by how many times the jacket can return to service.

Why Are Aluminum Foil Fiberglass Fabrics Common in Petrochemical Insulation Jackets?

Why Are Aluminum Foil Fiberglass Fabrics Common in Petrochemical Insulation Jackets?

Petrochemical plants create challenging conditions for insulation systems.

Removable jackets around:

Valves,Flanges,Pumps,Actuators

must face:

🔥 Heat
💧 Moisture
🛢 Oil and dust protection
⚙ Frequent maintenance
✔ Radiation heat reflection
🧹 Easier surface cleaning

An aluminum foil fiberglass outer layer helps protect the insulation blanket from the plant environment.

It is not just a cover.

It is part of the protection system.

A Small Piece of Fabric Behind a Big Industrial Project 🤝

A Small Piece of Fabric Behind a Big Industrial Project 🤝

(Photo shared by our customer after the successful installation of a large-scale insulation jacket project.)
When a customer entrusts Suntex with the material supply for a large industrial insulation project, they are not simply purchasing rolls of fabric — they are placing their confidence in our quality and reliability.
In a complete insulation jacket system, our role may seem small. We provide only the high-temperature coated fiberglass fabric, while the final solution involves design, cutting, sewing, installation, and engineering coordination.
But we know that every small detail matters.
For large insulation projects, fabric performance directly affects the success of the final product:
✔ Stable temperature resistance during continuous operation

✔ Excellent sewing and fabrication performance for smooth processing

✔ Consistent quality and high yield to reduce production risks

✔ Reliable weather and chemical resistance for long-term service

✔ Uniform appearance and finish across the entire project

A single roll of fabric may look simple, but behind every meter is our commitment to helping customers complete their projects successfully.
At Suntex, we believe trust is built through details.

Every specification, every production process, and every quality check represents our responsibility to our customers.

Because when our material becomes part of a major industrial project, we understand that we are not just supplying fabric — we are supporting our customer’s success.
Unpopular take for insulation jacket manufacturers: Not all vermiculite high silica fabrics qualify as reliable hot-face layers.

Unpopular take for insulation jacket manufacturers: Not all vermiculite high silica fabrics qualify as reliable hot-face layers.

I’ve talked with dozens of jacket makers losing clients over one avoidable flaw: flaking & powder shedding during cutting and sewing.

Many suppliers sell cheap vermiculite coated silica cloth that looks heat-resistant on spec sheets, but the coating has weak bonding strength.

Once your workshop workers cut, fold or stitch the fabric, vermiculite dust peels off everywhere. Consequences you all know well:
• Worn-out sewing needles & frequent machine downtime
• Fine mineral dust irritates workshop staff’s skin & respiratory tracts
• Thin, peeled coating fails to block radiant heat on-site, shortening jacket service life drastically • End users reject finished jackets and file warranty claims

A vermiculite fabric’s real value is not only its 1100°C continuous heat resistance or 1500°C melting point. The non-negotiable core feature for hot-face insulation use is high coating adhesion—zero flaking under fabrication processes.

Our Suntex-InsulTex/5021 solves this pain point with double-sided deep vermiculite impregnation, strict bonding control to stop powder shedding completely during cutting & sewing.

Now let’s open the debate:
Have you ever had to rework batches because your vermiculite fabric sheds coating dust?

Do you prioritize coating adhesion or just high temperature ratings when sourcing hot-face materials?

How much extra cost would you accept for non-shedding vermiculite silica fabric?

Drop your experience in comments—I want to hear all real workshop troubles from insulation jacket producers.
